Support for common knee concerns
Knee discomfort can arise from a wide range of everyday and sporting activities. Some of the more common concerns people seek support for include:
- Runner's knee — discomfort around the kneecap during activity such as walking, running or cycling, which can also affect people who sit for long periods.
- Meniscus concerns — discomfort and swelling that can make bending the knee difficult, often associated with sports like tennis, basketball, volleyball and soccer.
- Ligament strains (MCL & LCL) — discomfort, swelling and a feeling of instability, commonly associated with contact and twisting sports.
- Cartilage wear — joint discomfort, stiffness and reduced mobility, which can develop over time or following an injury.
Shop our wide selection of knee braces designed to support the patella, provide support to the surrounding ligaments, and offer a feeling of stability during a range of activities. For any ongoing or significant knee concern, we always recommend seeking a professional assessment.

How a knee brace works
A knee brace is designed to provide support to the knee, including during recovery following an injury. It is designed to support the leg by helping to limit the knee joint's range of motion, and can also provide compression to the knee area. Knee braces come in a variety of styles and support levels.
Knee braces are also designed to provide support for people with osteoarthritis. An unloader-style brace is designed to help shift load away from one side of the knee, providing compression and support to help maintain mobility.
Types of knee brace
The type of knee brace you choose will depend on your needs and the level of support required. Common types include:
- Hinged knee braces — Functional Knee Support, Elastic Knee Support (with Hinges), Knee Support Hinged (Neoprene), Knee Wrap Hinged (Neoprene)
- Knee sleeves and caps — Knee Cap Comfeel (Compression Support), Knee Cap Open Patella, Knee Support Urbane, Knee Cap (Pair)
- Knee straps — Patellar Support
- Wraparound braces — Knee Wrap with Cool Pack
- Open and closed patella designs
Neoprene supports mould to the shape of the wearer, with Velcro strap systems for a customised fit. More advanced supports, such as Tynor's knee compression support, use moisture-wicking fabric to help manage temperature inside the brace for added comfort during wear.

Frequently Asked Questions on Knee Supports
How do I choose the right knee brace?
The right knee brace depends on the level of support you need, from a lightweight compression sleeve for everyday activity through to a hinged brace designed to provide more structured support. Your healthcare professional can advise which type is most suitable for your circumstances.
What is the difference between a knee sleeve and a hinged brace?
A knee sleeve or cap is designed to provide compression and gentle support while allowing free movement. A hinged brace is designed to provide firmer support and to help limit the knee's range of motion, often used following an injury or under professional guidance.
What is your product warranty policy?
Tynor offers a 6-month warranty against manufacturing defects. All goods returned as faulty will be inspected for a manufacturing defect. If deemed faulty, a full refund or exchange will be provided in accordance with Australian Consumer Law, provided you have proof of purchase.
How do I clean my knee brace?
Many knee supports may be hand-washed with mild detergent in water below 30°C, without wringing. Allow the support to dry in the shade. Always follow the care instructions in the product manual included with your purchase.
