Product Description

The Tynor Knee Immobiliser 19" (D-11) is a rigid orthopaedic brace designed to immobilise and support an injured or post-operative knee in a secure, slightly flexed functional position. Lightweight anatomical aluminium splints on the lateral and posterior sides deliver strong immobilisation, while a three-layered laminated PU-foam fabric keeps the brace skin-friendly and comfortable through extended wear. The open wrap-around design makes it easy to apply and remove, and it fits either the left or right knee. Available in sizes S, M, L, XL and XXL.

  • Anatomical rigid splints — Lightweight aluminium splints on the lateral and posterior sides provide strong, complete immobilisation.
  • Over-the-patella broad strap — A broad patellar strap adds further immobilisation and is removable when not required.
  • High-quality laminated fabric — Three-layered PU-foam fused fabric delivers comfortable cushioning and a skin-friendly feel.
  • 15° flexion positioning — A pre-shaped posterior splint holds the knee in a slightly bent, functional position.
  • Reverse-buckle closure — Multiple hook-and-loop straps give a strong locking force and a snug, customised fit.
  • Wrap-around design — Open construction makes the brace easy to apply and remove, with a universal left/right fit.

The Tynor Knee Immobiliser is designed to immobilise and support the knee joint during recovery and clinical management, under the direction of a qualified healthcare professional. May assist in managing discomfort associated with the following conditions:

  • Immobilisation following knee fractures, injuries or dislocations
  • Immediate post-operative knee care
  • Pre-operative pain conditions
  • Moderate to severe knee instability
  • Knee osteoarthritis with associated instability
  • Early cast removal and staged recovery
  • Motion-control problems of the knee
  • Knee immobilisation for patient transportation

ⓘ Important: This device is intended for knee immobilisation under medical supervision. Fit, strap tension and duration of use should follow the instructions of a qualified healthcare professional.

Use under the guidance of a qualified healthcare professional. Ensure the brace is correctly positioned and the straps are firm without restricting circulation.

  1. Apply the brace with the wider side facing upwards, aligning it with the knee joint.
  2. Wrap it around the knee so the splints sit against the lateral (outer) and posterior (back) sides.
  3. Position the patellar opening directly over the kneecap.
  4. Secure the hook-and-loop fasteners using the reverse-buckle mechanism, tightening from bottom to top for a snug fit.
  5. Fasten the over-the-patella strap to complete immobilisation.

What is the Tynor Knee Immobiliser used for?
It immobilises and supports the knee in a secure, slightly flexed position during recovery from fractures, injuries, dislocations or knee surgery, as directed by a healthcare professional.

Does it fit both the left and right knee?
Yes. The wrap-around design allows it to be fitted to either knee.

How do I choose the right size?
Measure the circumference around your mid-thigh, about 15 cm (6") above the knee, and match it to the size chart (S–XXL).

Is the patellar strap removable?
Yes. The over-the-patella strap can be removed when additional immobilisation is not required.

I need to buy a immobilising brace (at straight leg). This says slight flexion. Does this mean it doesn’t fully immobilise or that it doesn’t immobilise at straight leg? Thanks

Customer Service

Hi Cathy,

Thanks for your question — it's a really common point of confusion so happy to clarify.
The "slight flexion" refers to the fixed position the brace locks the knee in, not a range of movement. The D11 holds the knee at approximately 0–5° (near-straight), which is the standard anatomical position for full knee immobilisation. Once the brace is on, the knee cannot bend further — it is fully immobilised in that near-straight position.

So to answer your question directly: yes, this is a straight-leg immobiliser. It is designed to prevent the knee from flexing.
If your surgeon or physio has specified an exact 0° angle, it's worth a quick check with them to confirm this brace suits your requirements — but for the vast majority of post-operative and fracture management needs, the D11 is exactly what's prescribed.

Feel free to call us on 08 6186 0001 if you'd like to talk it through before ordering.

I need to buy knee immobilizer long type but not sure what size. I measure leg circumference around is 44 cms. I think M size will suit the leg. Please advise. Thanks
Regards,
Steven Phan

Customer Service

Hi Steven,
Based on the measurements you provided, a medium size knee immobilizer should be suitable for your leg. Typically, knee immobilizers are sized according to the circumference of your thigh 6 inches above the knee, which in your case is 44cm. Our medium size knee immobilizers generally fit thighs with a circumference between 43-49 cm, which should work well for you.
