An ankle brace is designed to provide structured support and stabilisation for the ankle. It offers support for common strains and challenges related to joint instability. It also provides stabilising support for the Achilles tendon area. It helps stabilise the joint and provides support during movement. It does not overburden the injured leg, because it is much lighter than a plaster dressing. It can also be used prophylactically by people with ankle instability. Support for weakened ligaments prevents damage while walking, running, playing sports, or performing physical work. Support during periods of structured recovery and stabilisation, as directed by a healthcare professional. It uses the triple action of straps, laces, and rigid lateral anatomical splints to provide optimal ankle stabilisation.
